Showreel
Our showreel gives a pretty good overview of the breadth of work we have undertaken over the last couple of years as well as showing the diversity of our skills base within the film and video production world. Our work has taken us all over the U.K but our geographical base remains in Leeds, West Yorkshire.
There are quite a few projects covered in our current show reel so we decided to give a little background to the projects that these clips have been sourced from.
Giant Leap Productions Ident. The motion graphic was created from an Illustrator version of the Giant Leap Productions logo and was built with 3d Studio Max and After Effects.
The Place I Hate To Leave. This was lit and shot by our Creative director, Nick Padley with the curious character played by Sebastian Eastwood-Bloom. The shot featured was captured in DVCPROHD format (P2) with a Panasonic HVX200 on a skateboard dolly. The footage was edited in Final Cut Pro and then taken over to After Effects for grading to give it a dark and gritty feel.
Wella Professionals. We shot a number of green screen clips for integration into a 3D video that was created with 3d Studio Max and After Effects.
Kit4Kids. This promotional video was shot on a Panasonic HVX200 at 720p with the cutaway visuals shot again at 720p but at a mix of 25 and 50 fps in order to get some nice, smooth in camera slow motion. The whole project was edited native in Final Cut Pro with motion text created in Motion, sound was edited and music added in Soundtrack Pro and a final grade was done in Final Cut Pro before export.
Bezier Presentation. This was edited together in Final Cut Pro using assorted media provided by Bezier.
Give It Up Music Promo. This was a recent music video directed by Nick Padley for the lovely Hannah Trigwell. Cinematography was courtesy of the extremely talented Adam Conlon and was edited by Mezzo’s very own Chris Miller.
Shutter. This fast cuttin’, high energy ident was shot, edited and graded in just one day. Shooting with a very fast shutter was imperative in order to get the sharp, animated look in camera.
Fusion. We shot/ directed and edited this promo video for Fusion’s line of music bags. We had to be very precise with lighting the green screen as we didn’t want to be troubled with a difficult key in post. The footage ended up looking great and needed very minimal tidying up after pulling a key with Primatte RT in Final Cut Pro. Everything was composited together and graded in Final Cut Pro, making for a very fast turnaround for the client.
Fallen. Nick Padley was cinematographer of this short film shot on the Canon 5D MK2. We’re very proud of the visuals in this film, which were helped a great deal by shooting at a fantastic location at optimum times for the right kind of light.
Eclipse. This is one of a series of short promo videos produced for Eclipse Internet. We shot and edited all of these videos using a combination of the ever reliable Panasonic HVX200 and Final Cut Pro.
Ellite Studios. This footage was captured at the rehearsals for Ellite Studios annual show at Wakefield Theatre Royal. Shooting conditions were pretty tricky as there was very little light available but as we was shooting on the Canon 5D MK2 the pain was eased by shooting at a high ISO without the introduction of too much noise. This was cut together in Final Cut Pro and graded in Apple Color. A combination of filters from both Final Cut Pro and Magic Bullet Looks were used to create tilt-shift and stop-motion effects.
Lie With Me. This is our internationally screened short film that has helped gain attention for Nick Padley’s directing and editing abilities. Nick wrote, directed and edited the 20 minute short as well as grading some of the scenes and converting and prepping for both PAL and NTSC territories.
Bikeshed. We were given a lot of creative freedom with this which really helped make for a very persuasive video. The people involved were all very natural so not having to work to a strict criteria helped create something that felt really genuine.
Rude. Once again this was shot/ directed and edited/ finished for the client. This video contained green screen elements that we made sure were lit in a way that wouldn’t cause any problems in post. The backgrounds for the green screen segments were put together in Photoshop with subtle motion graphics created in Motion.
Cobra Ltd. We have shot/ directed and edited/ finished a number of training videos for Cobra Ltd. We have always used a very talented cinematographer/ camera op for these shoots and although there was limited time to get the material (shoots always took place in busy, working environments) a lot of focus was made on getting nice looking shots that made processes as clear as possible.
