Ashley, a business owner in his thirties, runs a PC repair business in Yorkshire with his business partner, Paul. With the economy on the slide, the business is beginning to fall apart and when Paul suggests a sleazy idea of how to make good money fast by imitating young foreign women in chat rooms, Ashley, although reluctant, feels forced to go along with the proposal.

Although uncomfortable with the scheme, Ashley believes that it will allow him to be a breadwinner in the eyes of his domineering wife, Donna and provide opportunities for his stepdaughter, Kirby. Emotion and desire, hopes and dreams, have a huge impact on decisions regarding love and family, and though the activity that he is taking part in is illegal, Ashley knows he is doing this in order to facilitate the pursuit of the happiness of a better life that Donna wants for her daughter, Kirby. A meek and receeded individual, Ashley has been emasculated by both Donna and Paul in every sense but is struggling to gain strength and find his voice.

However, when their get rich scheme gets rumbled by a psychotic local, Ashley’s family as well as the relationships within it are put in danger.
